Appointment details

Pre-treatment

**Very important** Permanent cosmetic lip services do disrupt the tissue of the lips. For many invasive cosmetic services in the lip tissue, a prescribed prophylactic antiviral medication is started PRIOR to the procedure to prevent the possibility of an outbreak. Examples of antiviral medications: Zovirax, Famvir or Valtrex. These must be prescribed by your doctor. We recommend you take 2 days before the appointment, the day of, and 3 days following the appointment or as directed by your physician. If you are unsure or do not have a strong history you may also choose to take lysine supplement (found at drug or health stores) for at least two weeks before the tattoo. The following list contains helpful do’s and do not’s in the days and weeks prior to your service. *For one week leading up to the appointment, moisturize your lips as much as possible. We recommend Aquaphor. *You may exfoliate 3 days before your appointment to remove any dry skin. You can use a lip scrub or create your own using a little honey and sugar. *It is advised to wait 3 months post appointment for lip filler. We recommended that you have the permanent lip enhancement first, and then the lip filler injection once lips are healed. In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit: *Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior *Do not drink alcohol 24hours before your tattoo *Limit caffeine (1 coffee) day of. *Do not take advil/buprofen products Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

Treatment time

*Initial lip appointment is 2 1/2 hours. *Refinement visit (6-8 weeks later) generally takes 1 1/2 hours.

Post-treatment

An aftercare kit including cleanser, ointment and detailed aftercare instructions will be provided at the appointment *Lips will be swollen immediately after. The degree of this varies from person to person, a cold compress is recommended and this should regress within 4-5 hours. moderate swelling may continue for 2-3 days. The color will appear much more vibrant and will fade about 30-40% from what you walked out with revealing a soft and natural blush tone. *It is important to keep the lips heavily hydrated (ointment will be provided) *Texture is normal and is often experienced in the first few days of healing *Lip Blushing is expected to last 2-5 years.

Frequently asked questions

Is it painful?

Pain levels vary from person to person. Most clients say it is completely tollerable. Strong medical grade topical anesthetic cream is used before and during your procedure to keep you as pain free as possible. Another option is to visit our recomended dentist and have dental block done. (same freezing they use in your mouth) The cost is an extra $75 but can be claimed through benefits

How long does it last?

Results will always vary from person to person, after your initial session and the touch up, your results should last between 2-5 years. Additional touch ups may be required depending on the person and look desired.

What if I dont want to wear the same color everyday?

A Lip tattoo is mainly meant to enhance the natural color of your lip. It looks beautifully soft on its own, slightly more vibrant with a clear gloss on top, or a great base for any colored lipstick you would like to add on top.

Can we tattoo outside of my lipline to make them look bigger?

It is not recomended to overline the natural vermillion border of your lips. The lip tissue is not the same as the skin around the lips. therefor the result and how it fades over time is unpredictable. Chances are your lips are bigger than you think, you have most likely lost a signifigant amount of natural color at the natural lipline. By replacing this color and defineing the border you will gain 2-3 mm in size.
